Belgian international Romelu Lukaku is AS Roma bound. The forward leaves Inter Milan after a successful season even though they couldn’t win the Serie A title and the Champions League title which they lost to Manchester City.

The Belgian is joining Jose Mourinho’s side on a loan deal valid until June 2024 worth around €7.5m for 10 months. Loan fee higher than €5m.

He arrived in a private jet driven by the club’s owner Dan Friedkin and was welcomed by numerous supporters of the club who converged at the airport to cheer him on.

He shared his reasons for joining the club in an interview:

“I always have AS Roma in my heart. I grew up with Stefano Okaka Chuka, he’s the biggest influence on why I choose AS Roma.

I would never be a striker without Okaka, he’s my rockstar.

“Thanks Inter for the sweet memories. We win together, we lose together. However, Rome feels like home for me.

It’s magical to share the same color with Francesco Totti. Not to be disrespectful, but I’m more Totti guy than Zanetti guy”

The flight which took him to Roma to help him reunite with his former Chelsea and Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, was tracked by 47,300 people.
