TSMC says delay in chip production in the Us is due to lack of skilled workers.
The Taiwanese chip-making giants have halted making chips in the United States, highlighting a lack of skilled workers for the delay in making chips this year, The firm says chip manufacturing will no longer start next year, due to a shortage of skilled workers.
Mr. Liu during a presentation said the plant, which has been under construction since April 2021, faced a shortage of workers with the “specialized expertise required for equipment installation in a semiconductor-grade facility.”
He added that the firm was “working to improve the situation, including sending experienced technicians from Taiwan to train the local skilled workers [in the US] for a short period of time”.
This is a blow to American President Joe Biden who has invested billions into the Tech Industry to match the ongoing economic war between the US and China.
A long-running technology dispute has seen the US impose a series of measures against China’s chipmaking industry while investing billions of dollars to boost America’s semiconductor industry.
