This World Cup is beginning to look like a tournament for the big names. Teams like the United State of America, Japan, Germany, England, Brazil et cetera have all been tipped for great performances by football analysts across the globe, pundits and fanatics.

One of the big names in Women football is Japan and they have impressive record winning it in 2011 and were runners up in 2015.

Zambia had a lot to do to overcome the Japanese. Zambia made their World Cup debut today. The scoreline means it is Japan’s biggest win at a Women’s World Cup ever.

Zambia had a Herculean task at hand facing Japan in their Women’s World Cup debut and it was a walk in the park for the Japanese with a 5-0 win over the Zambians.

In an international friendly against Germany on July 7th, Zambia meandered their way through with a win over Germany beating the Germans 3-2. A game which saw controversy and drama getting the spotlight and attention, Zambia had to find the net in the 90 plus 12 minutes by one of their best players Barbra Banda who found the net for the second time to make to win the game.

Her scoring prowess couldn’t see the light of day against Japan and sitting in group C with Spain, Costa Rica , Zambia definitely have to put up a good performance if they want to keep their World Cup hopes alive.
