50 Cent’s bid to acquire BET was rejected by Paramount.

Curtis Jackson known popularly as 50 Cent has joined the lists of celebrities whose bid to acquire BET were rejected by Paramount, the owners of BET. Paramount made an announcement to sell BET to black owners at a  fee of $3b. It was reported that Tyler Perry made an offer of $2b which Paramount rejected insisting on the terms that they had no intentions of selling below $3b.

Apparently the man behind the blockbuster series “Power” sent a bid with NBA legend Shaq O’Neil was rejected by Paramount as well and he took to social media to share his thoughts on the situation.

“We will get them next time, @shaq. That sh*t wasn’t worth 3,000,000,000. #bransoncognac #lecheminduroi.” He wrote on Twitter now X.

Tyler and 50 are not the only interested parties to be rejected by Paramount; Diddy suffered the same fate. His bid was denied by Paramount and they went ahead to stop the selling of BET altogether. Diddy who expressed the intention behind his bid stated it was for the good of the black community and their stories and not a selfish interest.

“Media is the most powerful industry in the world but it’s the industry where we have the least amount of ownership, influence and control!” Diddy wrote upon announcing the bid. “It’s time for @BET to be Black-owned again so we have the power to tell our own stories, control our own narrative! This is not about me it’s about WE!!!!”

Both Tyler Perry and 50 had passed comment on their true intentions behind acquiring BET. According 50 cent if any should own BET, Tyler deserves that title because of his content.

“He’s done enough work there to dominate that,” he explained. “And not even only dominate — I don’t think they’ve explored what it would be like not having a Tyler. And he’s created enough content that if they didn’t sell the company to him, he could go across the street and say, ‘I’m going to start my own.’”

Tyler Perry expressed his interest in buying the network during an interview when the bid was announced. “When this came up, I thought ‘wow this is meant to be’” A statement by Tyler during an interview. “What I can tell you is it’s worth a lot more with me than it is without me,” he added.
