Spain’s skipper Carmona learns of father’s death after winning the World Cup.

Olga Carmona who led her team to its first ever Women’s World Cup title was informed her dad had passed on Friday, two days before the game on Sunday. The player who plays for Real Madrid couldn’t hide her emotions when she took to the social media platform X to express herself.

“And without knowing it, I had my Star before the game started.

“I know that you have given me the strength to achieve something unique. I know that you have been watching me tonight and that you are proud of me. Rest in peace dad.”

She was instrumental in Spain winning the trophy. He scored the winning goal in the Semi Finals and did same in the finals.

The Spanish FA announced she found out about the death of her father after the full-time whistle.

“We send out most sincere hugs to Olga and her family in a moment of deep pain,” it said on X.

“We love you, Olga, you are the history of Spanish football.”

Carmona who won the best player of the tournament award after leading her team to winning the World Cup against England had to deal the shocking news of the passing of her dad.

It was what one can describe as a high career milestone and a deep loss and the latter was the death of her father.

Real Madrid, the club she plays for said the club’s “condolences and love” were with Carmona, her family and friends.
