Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun to Monaco on a €40m deal.
Arsenal’s American international, Folarin Balogun has agreed to €40m deal from Monaco in the French league. The gunners are retaining a sell on clause. His medical has already been booked and he is France bound in on time.
Balogun was one of the in form players last season in Europe where he had an impressive time. He joined Reims from Arsenal on loan and left an indelible mark scoring 21 Ligue 1 goals a feat only three players in the French league surpassed last season.
Such a brilliant player needs more playing time to showcase his talent and it’s definitely not Arsenal considering the club’s depth of talent. He has to compete with players like Eddie Nketiah, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus for playing time which seems unlikely since they are all in form. Hence it was advisable for him to look elsewhere and the calls came in but Monaco was his choice. Arsenal’s manager did not include him in his squad and it was advisable for him to go elsewhere.
Chelsea and Monaco were two clubs who were keen on signing him and it was a positive ending for Chelsea this time around losing him to Monaco. The French Ligue would afford him the opportunity to prove himself and prepare for bigger challenges in his career. Maybe someday he would be part of the Gunners on the battlefield, but until then, “Bon arrive” says Monaco.
