King Charles set to receive new title as royals touchdown in Samoa
King Charles to receive major honour during first-ever visit to Pacific Island nation

King Charles and Queen Camilla are set to receive a major honour by the Samoan people they arrive in the Pacific Island on Wednesday.
Marking their first-ever visit, the royal couple was received by the guard of honour at the airport before being escorted to his accomodation in Siumu.
Samoa’s prime minister Afioga Fiame Naomi Mataafa welcome at the tarmac in the country’s capital, Apia.
Meanwhile, a Samoan chief and member of parliament, Lenatai Victor Tamapua, revealed that the he is planning to offer the King a special new title during the traditional ceremonial welcome on Thursday.
Tamapua shared that he will be dubbing Charles “Tui Taumeasina” which is considered a title of high chief.
Charles, who has been a longtime advocate of action against climate change, will be discussing the impact of rising sea levels due to climate change in the Pacific Island nation.
He will also be leading the Commonwealth heads of government meeting (Chogm), as the reigning head of the states during his three-day visit.
The buzz over the royal couple’s arrival in Samoa has been going on for a while as preparations began months prior to the trip. Hotels have reportedly been renovated and roads and streets where the couple is expected to visit have been spruced up.
