Prince Andrew opts out of annual Sandringham gathering at Christmas following ‘spy scandal’

As the royal family continues with ‘business as usual’ amid Prince Andrew’s latest scandal, Buckingham Palace issued its first statement after the Duke of York made a big decision.

King Charles stepped out for the first time since the disgraced royal was reportedly urged to “stay away” from the upcoming Christmas celebrations at Sandringham.

The Palace shared glimpses of the monarch visiting an Advent Service in London where he met religious leaders, Christian refugees, and locals affected by homelessness.

“The King has attended an Advent Service celebrating the strength and courage of faith communities, at Farm Street Church in London,” the statement read alongside a carousel of photos from the service.

“After the service, His Majesty met representatives of @aidtothechurchinneed_uk and different charitable initiatives supported by the Church, including those focusing on community outreach and helping the homeless.”

The post comes just days after Andrew was set to have ties with an alleged ‘Chinese spy’. The disgraced royal, who is still from the impact of his sex scandal and previous friendship with Jeffery Epstein, is now under scrutiny for creating a national security issue.

A palace insider claimed that after the “embarrassment” he has caused the royal family, he will not be attending the annual royal Christmas. However, there is an expectation that he may appear at the lunch set to take place on Thursday.

However, it remains to be seen how the upcoming events pan out.
