Mariah Carey Embraces the Season in Snow Princess-Inspired Look at 2023 Billboard Music Awards

Mariah Carey brought the winter glamour to the 2023 Billboard Music Awards.

The singer, 54, arrived at the event in a chic, snow princess-inspired look. Her all-white ensemble included a plunging, zipper-front minidress with cozy cuffs and silver embellishments along the hemline.

She accessorized with sheer tights, knee-high boots and a pair of cat-eye sunglasses. Her signature long hair was styled in loose curls.

Carey took the stage at the ceremony to sing “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” marking the first time the iconic holiday song has been performed at an awards show.

Befitting her Queen of Christmas status, Carey made quite the royal entrance, as she was lowered to the stage in a ski lift chair. She sang her festive hit in front of a retro ski chalet backdrop,

Earlier this week, Carey told Access that her 12-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe, would take part in the performance.

“I love it. I love seeing them stepping into this performance space, this music space, and the fact that they’re eager to do it, that’s on them,” she said.

Carey holds the record for the artist with most weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 — thanks in part to the holiday hit, which has spent 12 weeks at the top of the chart.

The star’s long-standing chart domination led to her receiving the artist of the decade award at the Billboard Music Awards in 1999. Carey calls this her favorite BBMAs memory, saying it is “one of my favorite times at any awards show anywhere ever.”

At the beginning of November, Carey prepared the world for the big moves she’s making this holiday season. In a video she shared to Instagram, the singer defrosted herself from a block of ice.

The “Emotions” singer is currently on her Merry Christmas One and All! tour, and recently confirmed she is working on new music.

The 2023 Billboard Music Awards’ other performers include David Guetta, Bebe Rexha, KAROL G, Peso Pluma and Morgan Wallen. As part of the reimagined format of the awards show, these performances are airing from locations across the world.

The Billboard Music Awards’ performances and awards are available to stream via BBMAs and Billboard social media accounts, as well as at BBMAs.watch on Sunday, Nov. 19 at 8 pm ET.
