“Barbie” is still on a record breaking spree.
If anyone asks you “What’s the highest grossing movie at the box office this year ?” It’s a no brainer, ‘Barbie’ is the answer. The title which was held by ‘Super Mario Bros’ is now one of the achievements of the Greta Gerwig directed movie. It’s now the highest grossing movie of 2023 in North America.
The billion dollar movie has made Greta Gerwig the first woman to have sole directing credit on a billion dollar movie after it made $1b 17 days after it was released.
Since its premier in July, Barbie has been breaking records through its impacts amongst movie fanatics. The film took on a remarkable note when its made $155m domestically in its opening week which marked the longest opening weekend of the year and the biggest ever debut for a female director. It didn’t stop there, it broke the record for Warner Bros. Discovery’s highest-grossing domestic release, which was held by the 2008 movie “The Dark Knight”
As of Today, according to studio estimates ‘’Barbie” made $575.4million at the American box office surpassing that of “Super Mario Bros” $574.2 figure.
The movie based on the iconic doll is not taking a break from the record breaking spree anytime soon.
Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling et cetera two of the actors who played vital roles in bringing such masterpiece to life.
