Ben Affleck not going to attend 2024 TIFF due to Jennifer Lopez?
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon produced movie, Unstoppable will premiere at TIFF in September.
Ben Affleck will not attend the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival duze to Jennifer Lopez.
A source spilled to the PEOPLE that Lopez, who has a supporting role in Unstoppable movie, plans to attend the event in September.
Affleck, who is one of the movie’s producers, will reportedly be absent from the festival’s red carpet.
The source mentioned that his friend Matt Damon, who also produced, will be present.
Interestingly, the movie is produced by Artists Equity, the company co-founded by Affleck and Damon.
According to official synopsis, Lopez “plays the mother of Anthony Robles, a real-life wrestler who was born with one leg and eventually won a NCAA national championship in 2011”.
A description for the movie on the official TIFF website read, “At home, he contends with a mother going through some growing up of her own. Jennifer Lopez, too often underrated, is terrific here.”
Interestingly, the movie is directed by William Goldenberg, who also collaborated with Affleck on Air, Gone Baby Gone and Live By Night.
Lopez’s appearance news came after she filed for divorce from Affleck, citing “irreconcilable differences”.
Earlier in May, Lopez attended the Met Gala event alone.
At the time, Ben’s rep said, “His absence was planned and came down to a scheduling conflict as he filmed The Accountant 2 on the West Coast.”
Meanwhile, Unstoppable will premiere on September 6 in Toronto.
