Bruce Springsteen honours late friend Sam Moore
Soul icon Sam Moore died at the age of 89 on January 10

Bruce Springsteen paid a heartfelt tribute to his late friend Sam Moore, who died on Friday, January 10, at the age of 89.
Taking over his grief of losing the soul icon on Instagram on Saturday, January 11, Springsteen remembered him in a post that read, “Over E Street, we are heartbroken to hear of the death of Sam Moore, one of America’s greatest soul voices.”
“There simply isn’t another sound like Sam’s soulful tenor in American music,” he raved. “Having had the honor to work with Sam on several occasions, he was a sweet and funny man.”
Describing Moore’s voice as having an “edge of deep authenticity,” Springsteen went on to extend his condolences to the family.

“We offer our prayers to his wife Joyce and thanks for the immortal recordings Sam left us. God bless,” he concluded.
The two friends shared the stage and studio over the years. Moore contributed backing vocals to Springsteen’s 1992 album Human Touch, while Springsteen assisted on Moore’s 2006 song Better to Have and Not Need.
One of Springsteen and Moore’s memorable live performances includes the 25th anniversary concert at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in New York in October 2009.
The E Street Band joined the two to perform Soul Man and Hold On, I’m Comin’.
Moore, half of the seminal duo Sam & Dave, breathed his last in Coral Gables, Fla. The cause of death was complications from surgery.
