Cher Reveals She’s Working on Her Memoir Again After ‘Totally Chickening Out’
Cher is ready to turn back time!
In a guest spot on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, the legendary musician revealed that she’s working on a memoir — and that the forthcoming project has not been all smooth sailing.
“I just totally chickened out,” the singer, 77, told Fallon. “I didn’t put in some things that needed to be put in. And they’re not comfortable, but they need to be put in so I have to go back and man up.”
While the memoir’s title is also a work in progress, the “Believe” singer said she came to realize that her tell-all needs to do just that.
“I’ve lived too long and done too much and so it’s like it should be the encyclopedia,” Cher shared, and then joked with the audience about her reference to the reference material: “Not that you guys know what that is.”
Elsewhere in the interview, the “Stronger” singer said that she also met her other latest project — her first Christmas album, Christmas — with reluctance.
“Because I couldn’t, this sounds so stupid, because I couldn’t find myself, I couldn’t see myself in a Christmas album,” Cher said.
The iconic performer was able to fully get on board with the album after she recruited other legendary singers to the mix, including Stevie Wonder and Darlene Love.
“I was so terrified, I’m not kidding,” Cher said, about calling Wonder after realizing there were some parts of “What Christmas Means to Me” that were “just Stevie.”
She added, “So I called him and I said ‘Hi, Stevie, it’s me.’”
In September, Cher first teased the album to her 2.6 million Instagram followers.
“Are you spending Christmas with me?” the singer wrote alongside the record’s festive cover art.
“It’s a Cher Christmas album. It’s not your mother’s Christmas album,” the singer said on Good Morning Britain at the time.
“I’m really, really excited because there’s millions of people on it, and I’ve never had duets. I’ve never had people on any of my records” Cher told the hosts, adding that the collaborations were a “last-minute thing.”
