Dancing with the Stars Throwing Special Taylor Swift-Themed ‘Celebration’ Night
The six remaining couples will dance to a selection of Swift’s biggest hits on Nov. 21
Dancing with the Stars is going to shake it off to Taylor Swift.
On Monday, the ABC reality competition revealed that it will feature “A Celebration of Taylor Swift” on Tuesday, Nov. 21.
The special episode will see the six remaining couples strut their stuff to tunes taken from the pop superstar’s career, while DWTS choreographer Mandy Moore — who is also behind the routines on Swift’s The Eras Tour — will offer her opinions as a guest judge.
ABC confirmed in a release that the particular dance styles and songs the couples will perform to will be revealed at a later date
Billboard was first to report news of the Swift special in early October. Contestant and professional dancer Peta Murgatroyd, who is paired with Brady Bunch actor Barry Williams this season, revealed there would be a “Taylor Swift week” at the time.
Fans will be able to vote during the live simulcast of the show in the EST/CST time zones, according to the show release. Live viewer votes will then be combined with the judges’ scores to decide which couples are at risk of elimination.
Dancing with the Stars returned for its 32nd season on Sept. 24, airing live on Tuesdays on ABC and streaming on Disney+.
Julianne Hough joined as a new host this season, alongside returning co-host Alfonso Ribeiro.
Judges Derek Hough, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba are also back, though noticeably missing this season is beloved judge Len Goodman, who retired at the end of season 31 before his death from bone cancer at age 78 in April. During the premiere, the series honored Goodman by announcing that they renamed and redesigned their ultimate prize as the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy.
Among the star-studded cast this season is Charity Lawson, Lele Pons, Ariana Maddix, Jason Mraz,Barry Williams, Harry Jowsey, Xochitl Gomez and Alyson Hannigan.
Matt Walsh, Mauricio Umansky, Mira Sorvino, Tyson Beckford and Jamie Lynn Spears were among the contestants but have since been eliminated.
