Deivid Washington joins Chelsea from Santos, Brazil.

Deivid Washington, from Santos in Brazil has joined Chelsea on a seven year deal with the option for a further year.

David had an impressive season with Santos which attracted the attention of Chelsea to make this move.

Chelsea acquired the 18 year old sensation for £16 million with a further €4 million to be paid in add-ons.

He becomes the second young player signed by Chelsea this summer transfer following the steps of Angelo Gabriel whom Chelsea have loaned to French Ligue 1 club Straousburg.

His impeccable performance in Gremio’s academy in Brazil coupled with his immense talent after joining Santos in 2016 brought the attention of many fans and scouts on him.

Washington becomes Pochettino’s ninth signing of the summer transfer window.

Washington expressed his excitement and expectations after the signing according to the club’s official website:

“I’m very happy to be joining a huge team like Chelsea. I can’t wait to make my debut here at such a big club, and provide lots of goals and assists.”

Before joining Chelsea, he made a total of 16 appearances for Santos in all competitions scoring two goals.
