Here’s the real reason why Trump left the Super Bowl early

President Donald Trump left the Super Bowl early on Sunday.

There was speculation that Trump left about an hour before the end of the big game because the team he picked to win, the Kansas City Chiefs, were getting drubbed by the eventual winners, the Philadelphia Eagles.

But the Daily Mail reported that Trump’s schedule always had the president leaving the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans at around 8:05 p.m. Central time and departing the city aboard Air Force One.

Trump’s schedule was part of an major logistical operation that allowed Trump to became the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl.

There are major security issues involved with having such a highly protected person going in and out of a sports stadium. It’s one reason that presidents are sometimes reluctant to attend mass-crowd events.

More security from the U.S. Secret Service and local law enforcement agencies is needed when a president is in a crowded public gathering. Chaos can ensue.

To streamline logistical and security issues, it’s not unusual for presidents to leave such mass gatherings before they end.

Otherwise, it would be necessary to prevent the audience – in this case 80,000 people – from exiting the stadium while the president is on the move.

Members of the press traveling with the president were always prepared to leave the Super Bowl about an hour before the end of the game.

Adding to the security concerns was the fact that the Super Bowl in New Orleans came five weeks after an ISIS-inspired terrorist drove a car through a New Year’s crowd on Bourbon Street in town, killing 14.

The Eagles defeated the Chiefs, 40-22, denying Kansas City a chance for a third consecutive Super Bowl championship.
