How this star-kid gave Hindi cinema’s biggest flop, slashed his fees, and gave a disaster as a producer

The star-kid is Ranbir Kapoor, who starred in the 2015 dud ‘Bombay Velvet’, made his debut as a producer with the 2017 flop ‘Jagga Jasoos’, and slashed his fees for his next few films

At a recent event to promote upcoming film ‘Animal’ Ranbir revealed his long-standing admiration for the ever-charming Bobby Deol. Kapoor, who considers Bobby a style icon, revealed that he has been an avid fan of Bobby’s wardrobe, particularly drawing inspiration from the iconic sunglasses sported by Deol in ‘Soldier‘ and ‘Barsaat.’

In an exclusive interview with Firstpost earlier this year, Ranbir spoke about the hardwork that’s involved in making a film and said, “It’s a lot of hard work. What you see on screen is very pretty and glamorous, but behind the camera is a lot of hard work. I really respect the way Luv works because he has a very family style of working, he has the same set of people, his childhood friends who have designated jobs. Also, they all have similar intentions to make good films.”

Ranbir Kapoor is a huge star and one of the finest actors of our times. But, he has had his share of struggles and failures. He made his acting debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya in 2007 that was a box-office disaster. He gave consecutive hits post that and became a force to reckon with, this was up till Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani in 2013.

Post that, the star faced a massive slump in his clout with duds like Besharam and Roy. Tamasha has a roaring fan-following today but that film also didn’t work at the box-office. His biggest setback as an actor was Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet that came out in 2015. It was labeled as the biggest flop of Hindi cinema with a staggering loss of over Rs 100 crore.

That’s not all, his film Jagga Jasoos, which he co-produced, also failed despite a unique storyline. He slashed his fees for Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju and it finally gave him a blockbuster he needed and deserved. He’s now gearing up for Sandeep Reddy Vanga’
