Four years after the release of Captain Marvel, the anticipated sequel, The Marvels, is finally hitting theaters.

Directed by Nia DaCosta, the new Marvel film features an iconic teamup between Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani) and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) as they begin swapping places with each other every time they use their powers.

In addition to the superhero trio, the film also includes a new face in the Marvel Cinematic  Universe, Zawe Ashton (who actually has a personal tie to another Marvel alum: her fiancé Tom Hiddleston).

When did The Marvels release in theaters?

The Marvels premiered in Las Vegas on Nov. 7, 2023, though the cast was unable to attend due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike (which eventually ended at midnight on Nov. 9).

The film was officially released in theaters on Nov. 10, making it the 33rd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

How long is The Marvels‘ theatrical release window?

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, Disney gave a handful of its films a minimum 45-day exclusive theatrical release before making it accessible via its streaming platform. However, that window has shifted quite a bit with recent Marvel releases.

For example, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania had an approximate 60-day exclusive theatrical release window, hitting theaters on Feb. 17 and hitting Disney+ on May 17.

When will The Marvels be available to stream?

Most Marvel releases were made available on digital, including platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Vudu, and iTunes, about two months after their theatrical release. If The Marvels follows suit, the film will likely be available for purchase on digital beginning January 2024.

When will The Marvels be released on Disney+?

Like past releases, such as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Marvels will likely hit Disney+ shortly after its available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD, which usually happens about four months after its theatrical release.
