Jay Z themed library cards increase the number of Brooklyn Public Library membership.

Hiphop is the new book on the shelf at the Brooklyn Public Library and Jay Z’s Brooklyn influence is the subject matter.

As part of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hiphop, the Brooklyn Public Library and Roc Nation have released 13 limited-edition library cards with artwork from Jay-Z albums. The initiative, which ends later this month, has already resulted in 14,000 new library accounts and this revelation was made by the Spokesperson of the Brooklyn Public Library.

The aforementioned cards are in connection with a Brooklyn Central Library exhibit that explores Jay-Z’s career through rare photos, original recordings, videos and other artifacts.

According to the library spokesperson, the Jay Z themed card are available for all New York State residents. The spokesperson further clarified that New Yorkers can collect all 13 versions – but only one will be activated to a Brooklyn Public library account to check out resources.

Jay Z, an influential figure in the Hiphop community cannot be denied this attention during the 50th Anniversary of Hiphop from selling millions of records, becoming the executive producer behind some the big names in the history of Hiphop, it is only fair the state where Hiphop started, New York to give him his flowers.

Jay Z didn’t allow his humble beginning deter him from achieving such great feats in music and being an entrepreneur. From housing complex known as Marcy Homes commonly known as Bedford Stuyvesant, he pursued his music dreams and rose to fame in the early nineties as a music performer. He later became an iconic figure as a record label owner and an entrepreneur.

His eye for business became evident when he became the first billionaire hip-hop artist, selling more than 140 million records and winning 24 Grammy Awards – the most any rapper has received.
