Jay Z’s “40/40 Club” has closed its doors until February 2024.

There’s a saying that “Every good thing comes to an end” and that became the fate of Jay Z’s 40/40 Club which was established in 2003 in the Flatiron District of Manhattan.

After 20 years, the spot closed its doors late July. The famous Manhattan hotspot was one of the places decorated with Sports memorabilia and acquired its name from a baseball term for the exclusive group of professional players who hit 40 home runs and stole 40 bases in a single season — a feat the club calls “a benchmark for power and speed.”

On the spot’s official website, they posted a message there to inform the public about the decision to shut down the place. “We are currently closed but will reopen at a new location in February 2024.”

The 40/40 Club is named after one of baseball’s most prestigious achievements. A benchmark for power and speed, The 40/40 Club includes players who hit 40 home runs and stole 40 bases in one season. Barry Bonds (1996), Alex Rodriguez (1998), Jose Canseco (1988), and Alfonso Soriano (2006) are the only four to hold this title.

The sports and bar lounge located on 6 West 25th St. was a hotspot for hiphop elite, a place for music releases and many other entertainment events.
