Jenna Bush Hager and Kids Get Ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas in a Festive Weekend of Quality Time

Jenna Bush Hager plunged into the holiday season with her three kids.

Sharing photos from their weekend together, the Today with Hoda & Jenna host, 41, showed her family getting into the holiday spirit.

In one photo, Bush Hager’s three kids — Hal, 4, Poppy, 8, and Mila, 10 — sit at a kitchen island together with Poppy wearing a turkey hat.

Another snap shows the girls crouched together by the fireplace with holiday lights and garland strewn across the mantle. “Too soon?” Bush Hager jokingly asked in the caption.

A later photo shows the family’s Christmas tree all decorated, with Bush Hager writing, “We did it!”

On Wednesday’s episode of Today, Bush Hager recounted a story to co-host Hoda Kotb from when Mila asked for a debit card.

“We had said no. And we had said no. And we had said no,” the mom of three told Kotb. “And then she did a PowerPoint presentation.”

The digital presentation included “why she was responsible enough now, and what chores she would do, and how she wanted to learn how to save and how she wants to buy presents for her siblings at Christmas on her own,” the proud mom explained.

“And at the end, Henry, who’s a pretty conservative spender, said, ‘Okay Mila. You’ve earned it,'” she said of her husband, Henry Hager, 45.

Earlier this month, Bush Hager chatted with PEOPLE about her new children’s book Love Comes First and opened up about what her own kids have been reading this season.

“Mila is reading a lot of chapter books. She read a book called Save Me a Seat by Sarah Weeks and she loved it. She’s really into those books that teach are sort of driving home empathy. She likes to feel when she reads, which is something I also really like. So I’m just trying to help guide her to books that are like that,” she told PEOPLE.

“She finished the whole Harry Potter series, so she’s kind of done with fantasy and wizards for now and is really more into grounded fiction. I actually just went to the library with her and helped her pick out a lot more like that.”
