‘Chronically online’ Joe Jonas debuts new single in off socials event in New York City

Joe Jonas, the self-proclaimed “chronically online” Jonas Brothers star, opted for a refreshingly old-school approach to debut his new song.

On Thursday, April 24, the Cake by the Ocean singer treated a live audience to an exclusive first listen to his new track, Heart by Heart, ahead of its global release.

The intimate performance took place at Bleecker Street Bar in New York City as part of Heineken’s “Off Socials” campaign, which encouraged guests to unplug and fully enjoy the moment.

Attendees, including fans and friends, were asked to refrain from posting the performance on social media.

Jonas, who also filmed the song’s music video at the bar, told People he was excited to perform for a phone-free crowd.

“It’s been a while — actually, the last time I performed with no phones, I honestly couldn’t tell you,” he said.

Admitting to his own struggles of not keeping his screen time limited, Jonas, 35, added, “I’m at fault for becoming somebody that’s just in a death scroll… This is a nice reminder to just be present with your friends and family.”

“You can shut your phone off for a few hours and hang out,” the Sucker singer says of the event.

Official lyric video of Jonas’ new son Heart By Heart, was released on YouTube on Friday, April 25, a day after his live performance in the bar.
