Kaia Gerber Joins Mom Cindy Crawford in Stunning Strapless Gown at National Book Awards

Kaia Gerber and Cindy Crawford are making their rounds in New York City!

The actress, 22, and her supermodel mother, 57, attended the 74th National Book Awards at Cipriani Wall Street on Wednesday. Posing together before heading into the venue, Gerber and Crawford complemented each other with neutral-toned wardrobe choices.

The Bottoms talent looked chic in a strapless brown floor-length dress. The top portion of her garb looked to be a leather band while the rest of the gown appeared to be suede.

Crawford kept it classic with an ivory pantsuit and matching silk blouse. She accessorized with an ivory Ralph Lauren clutch purse and a subtle pop of color with pewter open-toe heels.

Writers of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, translated literature and young people’s literature are recognized at the annual event.

This year’s ceremony is hosted by actor, director, producer and podcaster LeVar Burton. The Reading Rainbow host was named as Drew Barrymore’s replacement in mid-October. Oprah Winfrey was honored as a special guest.

Kerry Washington, Emma Roberts and Karah Preiss also attended the event.

On Crawford’s Instagram Stories, she shared a photo of a stack of books on a table with a floral arrangement. “#NationalBookAwards,” she wrote on the image with emojis of books, a heart, and eyes peeking.

According to the organization’s website, their mission is to celebrate “the best literature published in the United States, expanding its audience, and ensuring that books have a prominent place in our culture.”

Gerber and her mother also attended an event the night prior in the Big Apple.

Crawford and Gerber matched in black outfits for a Planet OMEGA Fashion Panel and Cocktail Party.

“Just in case you’re wondering, she has longer legs than me,” The Super Models star said, referencing her daughter’s height while pointing to Gerber as the crowd laughed.

PEOPLE caught up with the mother-daughter duo at the event where Gerber dished on which of her mom’s iconic looks she’d love to recreate.

After noting that there were “so many” options to choose from, she narrowed it down to one that stood out to her.

“The red Oscars dress I’ve always thought was just so beautiful,” she said, referring to the show-stopping Versace low-back gown Crawford wore to the Academy Awards in 1991 when she was married to Richard Gere.

She also mentioned her mother’s 1992 Pepsi commercial pop culture moment, but in the end, decided that she’d leave the classic looks to Crawford.

“But it’s like some things are just so good you don’t even want to touch them,” Gerber continued. “And I think some of those moments I’m just like, ‘Leave them there,’ you know?”
