Princess Kate celebrates Prince George’s 11th birthday with his new photo

Princess Kate decided to share a black and white portrait of Prince George on his 11th birthday to keep the ‘symbolic’ royal tradition alive.

In conversation with Express.co.uk, former commissioned royal photographer Ian Pelham-Turner revealed that the royal family “used to love black and white photography,” hence Catherine keeps the family’s tradition in the “public eye.”

While recalling his experience, the expert shared, “I took William’s first Christmas baby shoot with Charles and Diana and the majority of that was done in black and white as well because in those days it was just the trendy thing to do.”

Moreover, Ian Pelham-Turner said that sometimes colours in the photo become a source of distraction and shift the focus from the main theme.

He added, “With black and white it’s something that is symbolic of showing the royal family. Just a straight image of them without any distraction of colour.”

“The black and white photograph has a look of the former queen on the image as well so again it might be nostalgia why it’s done in black and white at the same time,” he stated.
