Kim Kardashian Responds to Serena Williams’ Racquet-Holding Comment: ‘I Would Love Lessons from the G.O.A.T.’
Kim Kardashian is open to tennis lessons from Serena Williams!
In a new “Actually Me” video interview with GQ, the SKIMS mogul, 43, went undercover and replied to Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Wikipedia, YouTube and Reddit comments — including remarks from her famous friends.
In the video, GQ shared a screenshot of Kardashian’s September Instagram post that featured photos taken at a tennis court.
Williams commented on the model’s post, joking, “Literally not how you hold a racquet. Clearly I have to give you lessons lol 😍😍.”
Kardashian responded to the 23-time Grand Slam champion, 42, in the GQ video, clarifying that in the post she wasn’t playing tennis. She was just “walking” on the court.
“First of all, I was walking to the other side. Is there a special way you have to hold the racquet just to walk from one side to the other side?” Kardashian said. “I was also out of bounds at that point.”
The model then called upon her friend to supply her with lessons. “But I’m waiting, I would love lessons from the G.O.A.T.,” Kardashian said.
In Kardashian’s original series of photos, she seemed to be focused solely on her swimwear style as she posed in a bubblegum-pink Chanel logo-print bikini.
One image captured the mom of four holding her tennis racquet awkwardly out to the side, while another saw her reaching the racquet toward the sky for an overhead shot. She captioned the photo carousel with a tennis ball emoji and a pink heart.
Williams and Kardashian met more than 20 years ago and immediately hit it off when Kardashian had a job organizing celebrities’ closets, including those in Williams’ home. They have remained friends ever since.
Back in 2017, Kardashian was on hand when the tennis legend and husband Alexis Ohanian tied the knot in New Orleans. Williams and Ohanian have two daughters — Olympia, 6, and Adira River, 3 months.
Williams is already turning Olympia into a tiny force on the court, signaling she’s become an expert instructor to those close to her.
In July, Williams shared a throwback video of a lesson she gave Olympia when she was just 3, using the same techniques her father (and coach) Richard Williams taught her as a young girl.
While Olympia appears to have inherited her mom’s tennis talent, the 6-year-old isn’t quite as big of a fan of the game as the rest of her family. While appearing on CBS News’ Person to Person with Norah O’Donnell in March, Williams lamented that Olympia “doesn’t actually like to play tennis too much.”
“That’s a little disappointing for me, but she’s actually really good at it,” Williams said. “So we are trying to figure out a way to get her to play a little bit.”
