From Brighton, a young football star from the land of Ecuador, Moises Caicedo makes a record move of £115million fee to one of the greatest clubs in European football, Chelsea. He had to turn down £111million offer from Liverpool football club to see to his Chelsea dreams.

This deal is an eight-year deal with Chelsea. Chelsea will pay £100m to Brighton for Caicedo, plus £15m in performance-related add-ons. The Ecuadorian midfielder completed medical on Monday.

It was reported that he was joining Liverpool and had to travel to Liverpool and see to his medical on Friday but none of that happened when the Ecuadorian midfielder made it clear to Liverpool that Chelsea is the club he intended to play for.

This created a tense atmosphere prior to and during the Chelsea v Liverpool match; the first game of the 2023/2024 English Premier League for both clubs even though Moises Caicedo didn’t feature in that game which ended 1-1.

With the crave for midfielders due to the departure of Kante, the Club is bent on acquiring good defensive midfielders and that informed the decision to go in for Caicedo.

After his medical, good words came from the sporting directors of the club on how happy the club is to receive this new gem as part of the squad.

“Moises possesses a rare midfield skill set and is a player we’ve been targeting for some time. We believe he will make a significant impact at Stamford Bridge this season – and in the years ahead.” Co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley stated.

The signing makes Moises Caicedo the most expensive player in the English Premier League currently.
