Neymar Joins Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League from PSG.

The summer transfer window has seen many key players in the European league making moving to the Saudi Pro League and the newest kid on the block is 31 year old Brazilian forward Neymar who has joined Al – Hilal on a fee around 90million Euros ( 77.6million Pounds.)

During PSG’s pre season tour, speculation were growing that Neymar would not be part of Luis Enrique’s squad for this season and if happened as the rumors were circulated. An Evidence to buttress this was when he was left out of the squad on PSG’s Ligue 1 draw against Lorient.

Having signed a two year deal with the Saudi Pro League, it’s reported that he will be taking 150 million Euros a year, six times what he was offered at PSG.

The talisman who made 173 appearances for PSG, helping the club win 13 trophies, including five Ligue 1 titles, as well as reaching the 2020 Champions League final, couldn’t hide his thoughts on his move to Al-Hilal.

“I’ve achieved a lot in Europe and enjoyed special times, but I have always wanted to be a global player and test myself with new challenges and opportunities in new places,” he said.

“I want to write new sporting history, and the Saudi Pro League has tremendous energy and quality players at the moment,” Neymar added.

“I have heard a lot and learned that I am following a long list of Brazilian players who have played in Saudi Arabia over the years, so I believe it is the desired place.”

The chairman of his new club, Al-Hilal, Fahad bin Saad also had some kind words to express his joy and described Neymar as a global icon and an unstoppable attacking force.

This move is a sign of a deliberate attempt to make the Saudi Pro League one of the best leagues in the world and joins a big sea of fishes who have left European football to join the Saudi League.

Ballon Dor winner Karim Benzema, 2018 World Cup winner and former Chelsea defensive midfielder N’Golo Kante, former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson, ex- Wolves captain Ruben Neves, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have all moved to Saudi Arabia.

The Brazilian and is the latest to do so and his new teammates in Al-Hilal include include ex-Wolves captain Ruben Neves, former Chelsea centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, formerly of Lazio, who were all signed for big fees.
