North Korea detains U.S soldier after he intentionally crossed into the border

A US soldier who was believed to be facing disciplanary problems willfully crossed into North Korea’s border with South Korea with a group of tourist, he was set to be moving with the tourist and then suddenly made a u- turn thus bursting into the border area where he was immediately detained in a building.

He has been identified  by the US army as Pvt. Travis King who crossed the demarcation line into North Korea , King is a cavalry scout who began his mission in the army on January 2021

Travis King embarked ona tour as a civilain with a group of tourist when he suddenly crossed into North Korea on Tuesday, this comes as a surprise when the U.S had stationed a submarine in South Korea to warn North Korea of their constant ballistic weapons launch provocation.

US Forces Korea spokesperson Col. Isaac Taylor said Tuesday that a US soldier “willfully and without authorization” crossed the line during a regular tour of a section of the buffer zone between North and South Korea known as the Joint Security Area (JSA).

“We believe he is currently in (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) custody and are working with our (Korean People’s Army) counterparts to resolve this incident,” Taylor said in a statement, referring to North Korea’s military.

The soldier had previously spent 50 days in detention in South Korea , he probably had some disciplanary problem after an assualt on a South Korean national.
