Prince William knows what his kids like when it comes to music!
On Tuesday evening, the Prince of Wales, 41, spoke to OneRepublic while backstage at his Earthshot Prize awards ceremony in Singapore.
During his chat with the pop rock band, William praised the group members for being the openers to his event — which is held annually for environmental sustainability projects worldwide.
“I can’t thank you enough,” he said, as reported by The Express. “You were amazing. What a way to start the show. That was incredible.”
He then revealed that the youngest of his three children is a big fan.
“Louis, my youngest, loves your songs,” the heir to the British throne told the “Rescue Me” band. As for his oldest, William stated that Prince George is interested in AC/DC.
Earlier this year, a palace insider spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about how the royal parents enjoy raising their kids in a non-traditional way.
“Those children look pretty happy with life,” the source shared with PEOPLE for a July cover story. “A lot of it is the stabilizing normality Kate brings — and that’s how she grew up. William absolutely loves it.”
While William grew up as a royal, Kate’s parents met while working at British Airways. Her mother was a flight attendant and her father was a flight dispatcher.
“Coming from a different background, she appreciates the importance of having family time,” a source close to the royal household said. “She wasn’t brought up in that aristocratic setting where you see the children for a short time each day.”
The insider added that William and Kate “consciously set out to achieve a sense of normality.”
Over the years, both parents have discussed the importance of keeping their children grounded.
“As far as we are concerned within our family unit, we are a normal family. I love my children in the same way any father does, and I hope George loves me the same way any son does to his father,” William said in an April 2016 BBC interview.
“We are very normal in that sense. There’ll be a time and a place to bring George up and understand how he fits in, in the world. But right now it’s just a case of keeping a secure, stable environment around him and showing as much love as I can as a father,” he continued.
Kate has also reflected on how the values her parents instilled in her affect how she raises her kids.
During a visit to Mitchell Brook Primary School in February 2017, she said, “My parents taught me about the importance of qualities like kindness, respect, and honesty, and I realize how central values like these have been to me throughout my life.”
The Princess of Wales added, “That is why William and I want to teach our little children, George and Charlotte just how important these things are as they grow up. In my view it is just as important as excelling at maths or sport.” Source: people.com
