Real Madrid overtake Man City as richest club in Deloitte Money League

The Spanish giants reported their highest-ever revenue of €831.4m, an increase of €118m from the previous year, having enjoyed a rise in stadium attendance following the easing of Covid-19 protocols.

That boost gave Madrid the edge over City, whose own record revenue of €825.9m was boosted by significant rewards from their Champions League and Premier League triumphs.

For the first time in the history of this report, Paris Saint-Germain have clawed their way into the top three. An annual revenue of €801.8m sees them edge out Barcelona, whose rose from seventh to fourth on this list after a 45% rise in commercial revenue made them one of only four sides to report revenue of over €800m.

Manchester United come in fifth with €745.8m – an 8% rise from the previous season – while Bayern Munich reported revenue of €744m.

Sitting in seventh are Liverpool, who tumble down from third in last season’s rankings as just one of three teams to actually report a decrease in revenue across the 2022/23 campaign. Their poor performances on the pitch kept their revenue at €682.9m.

Tottenham Hotspur (€631.5m), Chelsea (€589.4m) and Arsenal (€532.6m) round out the top ten. Elsewhere, Newcastle United (17th) and West Ham United (18th) are the other two Premier League sides to reach the final rankings.
