Styles P has been fair to tell the world the first rap song he ever memorized into his chambers and sang without any glitches.

At the BET 2023 Awards weekend Thepeopleviews correspondent Sadat Yakubu asked the rapper about the first-ever rap song he was able to grasp in his head.

Styles P opted to name  The Furious Five’s 1982 call-to-action track, “The Message,” and Grandmaster Flash, which is a cornerstone Hip Hop record that other artists have built on over time.

“What’s crazy, God bless my brother, probably ‘The Message,’” Styles P said. “That was the first, most inspirational song for me. Album-wise though, I think everybody was focused on remembering Rakim, Kool G Rap, [Big Daddy] Kane, and KRS [One] bar for bar, especially my era.”

”The Message” mostly spoke of drug use, especially in the 1980s when it became the main problem in the neighborhood and again it was the first to focus on the mental state of the people and how it affected the black community.

“My son said, Daddy, I don’t wanna go to school/Cause the teacher’s a jerk, he must think I’m a fool/And all the kids smoke reefer, I think it’d be cheaper/If I just got a job, learned to be a street sweeper,” Melle Mel raps.

“Or dance to the beat, shuffle my feet/Wear a shirt and tie and run with the creeps/Cause it’s all about money, ain’t a damn thing funny/You got to have a con in this land of milk and honey.”
