Dylan Efron, influencer and Zac Efron’s brother recalls saving woman from drowning

While Zac Efron played a lifeguard on the big screen in Baywatch, it turns out his younger brother Dylan Efron got a real-life taste of saving lives — and completely by accident.

During the April 17 episode of Brooke and Connor Make a Podcast, Dylan, 33, shared the wild story of how a casual trip to Miami’s South Beach on April 5 quickly turned into a rescue mission.

“It was really random,” he recalled, setting the scene of how he and his friend Brennan had just stepped onto the sand when they spotted chaos unfolding in the water.

“The currents were ripping,” Dylan said, describing the scene where five girls were seen “screaming” and throwing their hands up for help — with no lifeguards in sight.

Without missing a beat, Dylan and Brennan sprinted into action.

“We just sprinted out there. There were two closest to us that already had a guy helping them in,” Dylan explained. “There were three out further, so I swam one in and swam back for another girl.”

Dylan, who swam competitively in college, emphasized just how intense the situation was. “From where we jumped in, we ended up, like, a football field length away,” he said, underlining how fierce the current was.

He also shared a touching moment that happened after he brought the second girl to safety.

“The last girl I swam in, I was just trying to calm her down and just saying, ‘Breath, breath,'” Dylan recalled. “She just wraps me in the biggest hug and doesn’t want to let go. We hugged for like a full minute. I’m like, ‘You’re safe, you’re good.’”

After making sure she was okay, Dylan said he “just walked away” — pretty casual for someone who just pulled off a full Baywatch moment. Although his heroic actions quickly made waves on social media, Dylan stayed humble about the whole ordeal.

“I feel like I did what most people would have done in that situation,” he said.

While Dylan has mostly stayed out of the spotlight compared to his famous brother Zac, he’s been steadily building an impressive resume.

After graduating from California Polytechnic State University in 2013, he worked behind the scenes in Hollywood and even teamed up with Zac in 2020 to produce Down to Earth with Zac Efron.

More recently, Dylan stepped further into the spotlight by competing on season 3 of The Traitors, becoming one of the four winners earlier this year. Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, March also marked the premiere of his latest documentary, The Fish That Saved a Village.
